Late updates

On Thursday, I finally went to the optometrist that my opthamologist recommended to me in order to be fitted with RPG contact lenses to treat my keratoconus. He has to order the trial set from Western Australia, so he’l; call me when they are in (most likely on Thurs or Fri). I’m pleased there is a trial set first, given that I have had problems with contacts in the past, and the cost of the lenses (approx $300).

Actually, the cost of all this eye stuff has been worrying me — I only bought new lenses for my glasses 2 months ago, I am having to go to both the optometrist and the opthamologist on a regular basis, and I need RPG contacts — So I was relieved find out that Medicare will cover my optometrist visits totally since I have KC. They normally only cover you for an optometrist visit once every 24 months. They don’t cover for the lenses, but ce la vie. The opthamologist fees are 50% covered.

So that brings us up to Thursday.
