In response to the Howard Stern hate-fest (those people are vile! many, many, many sanity points required.) and the examples of “concern” being expressed for Gabourey Sidibe’s “health”, Pursuit of Harpyness has hit the nail on the head:
Gabby’s great qualities are negated by the size of her body, in some people’s eyes.
Gabby’s sins are two-fold:
1. She’s really fat.
2. She doesn’t hate herself for it.
To which I would add:
3. She’s stylish and fabulous.
4. She’s successful. In Hollywood.

One nit – “Precious” wasn’t a studio film, it was an independent. She did very well in it and has apparently charmed the socks off the Hollywood people she’s met, but would she have been cast if it had been a studio production?
True. But I do think being nominated as Best Actress is a pretty good definition of Hollywood success – particularly in a year when Meryl Streep is also nominated.
im not sure what song it was in…..but something new i have been living by (and Gabby really makes me think of that)
“haters gonna hate” and theres not much we can do about that. So let them hate…you cant stop them…dont waste your breath on them.
Yep, agree with you there. Gabby seems pretty much able to take it all in stride, which speaks of immense personal strength and the confident fatitude she so fabulously displays everytime she’s interviewed.
